Lost in Translation
“To Make a Difference, Understand Differences.”
― Syed Sharukh
Culture can define all the ways of life that include arts, beliefs, and institutions of a population that passes down from generation to generation. As a kid, I failed to realize the impact of cultures. Growing up, I presumed the rest of the world would understand my interests and life choices since that is all I knew. But the older I got, I entered in a shock when I realized that wasn’t the case. My mistake was assuming that the world revolved around me, where I do not even make up a percentage of the population. But the beauty of culture is the individualization of yourself and the ability to share your story with others, whether they relate to it or not. The experiences of interests and lifestyles are to be shared, which can lead to the growth of one another in hopes of improving humanities. These differences can keep us going if we learn to appreciate and not discriminate. Overall, I can only tell my own story. No matter how much you get informed on a lifestyle, it will never equate to living it. And I believe that’s the beauty of it. As said that a person can expand their knowledge when traveling the world. Traveling introduces you to experiences unlike your own, allowing you to acknowledge the beauty of these distinctions. The images I present are abstract encounters that made me who I am today.
