Family is the strongest bond you can ever have, especially in Latino culture. To blindly love each other, despite the flaws. To ignore the problems that affect us for the better, just because we share the same blood. But the older I got, the more I rebelled against these traditions. I’ve learned that family can be your support, but it can also be what holds you back. No matter the blood we share, there is still betrayal and harm, where there is no ignoring the toxicity.

The project displayed represents some impacting points in my life, from relationships to death. I used a digital collage-style method that symbolizes our beliefs and situations. I learned from the mistakes I have seen throughout the years, but the same experiences helped me realize there is better out there. Sometimes you have to disconnect to grow, but that doesn’t mean the love won’t be there.
